Abstract

In my talk, I will discuss the possibility of calculating quantum properties of light—such as quantum photon statistics—using Floquet theory, where a quantum system (e.g., an atom) interacts with a strong laser field treated as a classical electromagnetic field. I will then show that, roughly speaking, the photoionization rate in a cavity oscillates around the average of the rates of the two Floquet states. Finally, the cavity effect on the generation of XUV photons (high harmonics) in atoms and molecules exposed to a strong IR laser field will be briefly discussed.
