Mysteries of relativistic jets
Relativistic jets are powerful collimated outflows of extreme plasma from compact objects, especially accreting black holes. Plentiful observational evidence is available; this talk shall focus on AGN jets resolved with VLBI in radio/mm, and consider connection to multi-wavelength (esp. gamma-ray) emission of blazars. Out of several long-standing theoretical problems, energy dissipation shall be highlighted, especially its high efficiency at large distances inferred. Results will be presented on in-depth analysis of high-resolution 3D GRMHD simulation of black hole jet partially disrupted by magnetic flux eruption (MAD state). Ideas will be discussed how to make further progress in understanding relativistic jets using numerical simulations.Note:The talk is only over the zoom. https://zoom.us/j/9290951953
