Abstract

In this talk, I will explore energy dissipation and heating in slowly driven quantum systems. Although these effects are often considered non-universal, I will show that dissipation in nearly adiabatic quantum dynamics is linked to the quantum geometry of the driving protocol. Remarkably, this connection leads to a universal, topological lower bound on the energy dissipation rate in a class of topological systems. These findings bridge geometric and topological properties and energy dissipation in open quantum systems, providing design principles for optimal driving protocols.
