However, all the observations of this elusive matter are based on gravitational systems. Many efforts to determine the particle or field nature of the dark matter were carried out, but so far without success. In my talk I will go through the evidence and basic notions related to dark matter, and will then focus on one of the most promising channels for its understanding - direct searches for dark matter. Abstract
